SureForm from Intuitive

When we talk about staplers in China, the first thing that comes to mind is Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic. These two companies once occupied more than 90% of the stapler market in China. Now, with China's large-scale centralized procurement and the continuous emergence of high-quality domestic products, their market share is declining sharply. Chinese staplers have begun to take the initiative, and Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic may become Others in the future.

In China, the staplers of Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic are going downhill, mainly due to policy reasons. In the United States, the market share of staplers of Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic is also rapidly declining. According to overseas population statistics, Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic are no longer the brands with the highest market share of laparoscopic staplers in the United States. Intuitive has quietly surpassed Medtronic and Johnson & Johnson and jumped to the first place.

The main reason why Intuitive's laparoscopic stapler market share has topped the list is that the Da Vinci series of soft tissue surgical robots developed by Intuitive are too successful. At present, the global total number of Da Vinci series has reached 9,902, and the United States is the country with the most Da Vinci series installations. In 2021, Da Vinci series surgical robots have covered more than two-thirds of medium and large hospitals in the United States, and even the coverage rate of community hospitals has reached 72.19%.

Today, the proportion of hospitals covered by the Da Vinci series of surgical robots in the United States is still increasing. For example, the Da Vinci 5, which was launched last year, has been installed in more than 362 units in the United States, and is still in a rapid growth stage

Installation volume in the four quarters last year: 8 units in Q1, 70 units in Q2, 110 units in Q3, and 174 units in Q4

.Da Vinci 5 will continue to boost the market share of Da Vinci series surgical robots in the U.S. It will also increase the market share of SureForm staplers that accompany Da Vinci series surgical robots. If Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic want to regain market share in the U.S. for laparoscopic staplers in the future, they need Hugo and Ottava to be launched on the market as soon as possible and demonstrate strong competitiveness.

At present, the penetration rate of soft tissue surgical robots in Chinese hospitals is not high. Once it reaches the same penetration rate as in the United States, will the laparoscopic stapler also be the same as in the United States?

SureForm

SureForm is a laparoscopic stapler used with the Da Vinci series of surgical robots. It can be divided into three models according to the length of the stapler: 30, 45 and 60.

SureForm is integrated with SmartFire software, which can intelligently control the anastomosis process. SmartFire software optimizes the anastomosis line performance by measuring the amount of tissue compression before and during the anastomosis, and automatically adjusts to optimize the staple line.

In addition, SureForm has a unique 120-degree wrist joint cone, allowing doctors to freely access tissue in its natural position, providing greater maneuverability to bypass target tissue and reduce tissue tension.

The 8mm SureForm 30 is the latest generation of staplers from SureForm, consisting of a full wrist, 8mm SureForm 30 gun and stapler cartridge (gray, white and blue), and can be used in general, breast, gynecological, urological and pediatric surgeries.

The 8mm SureForm 30 is designed to help surgeons achieve better visualization and access to anatomy by combining an 8mm diameter instrument shaft and jaws, a 120-degree wrist joint taper, and a curved tip. It allows surgeons to access patient anatomy from different angles as the stapler passes through the 8mm da Vinci surgical robot trocar.
